M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. (This is a fixed-term contract position for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to organizational needs and individual performance. )

Reporting to Curator, Moving Image, you will be responsible for

  • supporting the curatorial team in all exhibitions, screenings and events related to museum business, and curatorial affairs with a focus on moving image;
  • assisting in creating and maintaining records of objects in the museum collection;
  • supporting and making acquisitions for the museum collection;
  • independently researching given topics related to moving image and communicating findings to the curatorial team;
  • assisting in writing, editing, and producing museum texts, including publications, wall texts, and object labels;
  • working with all curatorial teams including visual art, design and architecture, digital programmes, learning and interpretation, and editorial in the above capacities when required; and
  • contributing to the general development of the future M+, including different stages of the building, museum operations and programmes.

You should

  • possess a recognised university degree in Art History, Fine Arts, Film or other subjects related to moving image;
  • have at least 4 years of experience in planning, coordinating and delivering exhibitions, screenings or other moving image focused programmes, including but not limited to film, contemporary art, animation and digital culture;
  • demonstrate strong research skills and experience with ability to conduct research independently;
  • have knowledge of 20th and 21st century moving image histories, particularly from Asia; and
  • have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese; proficiency in Mandarin is an advantage.
