Exhibitions Assistant
M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Located in Hong Kong’s WestK, we are one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. The ideal candidate will have a passion for visual culture and preferably, an education that reflects this. The individual should be highly organised and motivated to learn and grow within a museum environment. The role requires a high level of discretion and ability to prioritise tasks, communicate well, and anticipate requirements. This is a perfect entry level position to the museum, ideal next step from an internship.
You will be responsible for
- supporting the exhibitions team through administrative tasks relating to the exhibitions programme;
- responding to requests from Senior Managers to support the department;
- preparing and providing key documentation upon request;
- monitoring spreadsheets relating to exhibition data collation;
- updating the exhibition programme as required;
- providing support to project teams as required;
- liaison across all WKCDA departments;
- facilitating the implementation of exhibition procedures and workflows;
- overseeing procurement requirements and facilitating requests from other M+ departments; and
- performing any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by M+.
You should
- possess a recognised university degree ideally in relevant fields such as art history, museum studies, arts administration, cultural management or equivalent;
- have at least two-three years consistent administrative experience working in a team environment;
- have demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks within an ever-changing environment;
- be able to prioritise needs in a variety of situations;
- be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word and Excel and PowerPoint); knowledge of Microsoft Project or equivalent software would be preferred;
- have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in English and Chinese;
- have a high level of discretion and the ability to escalate arising issues appropriately.
