Redress Design Award Education Senior Manager - Job Description

The Redress Design Award Education Senior Manager reports directly to the Redress Design Award Programme Director and collaborates closely with the Strategic Education Director. This role is suited for a self-motivated, energetic individual who is highly organized, resourceful, and passionate about the environment and sustainable fashion.

Principal Responsibilities This position oversees the content, timeline, and delivery of all educational components of the Redress Design Award (RDA) throughout its annual cycle, including:

  • Developing New Initiatives: Create new education initiatives for each cycle of the RDA, aligning them with overall Redress Education goals and sponsor deliverables.
  • Executing Educational Content: Lead the development of educational content for the Redress Academy platform and other materials, including webinars, videos, written content, exhibition displays, and presentation scripts.
  • Managing Judges: Identify and manage competition judges, overseeing the judging process.
  • Calendar Management: Manage the overall timeline for all education-related deliverables in the RDA government grant, in cooperation with the Programme Director.
  • Building University Relationships: Identify, manage, and develop key relationships with 12-15 university partners globally, in addition to overseeing outreach to 100+ other partners.
  • Leading Live Events: Organize and present live education events, such as academies, lectures, and workshops, targeting fashion students, emerging designers, and academia.
  • Outcome Measurement: Coordinate with the Programme Director on measuring outcomes against key educational deliverables.
  • Content Support: Assist in setting RDA competition content and format, including application and judging criteria.
  • Outreach and Relationship Building: Support outreach to designers, retail buyers, and industry professionals to enhance the RDA competition and the global Alumni Network.
  • Budget Management: Manage a budget for hiring external freelancers and service providers for educational events and translation services.
  • Spokesperson Role: Act as a key spokesperson at Redress and external events, participating in panels, seminars, and conferences, primarily in Asia.
  • Wider Team Support: Occasionally assist the broader Redress team at physical events and activities.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant business or nonprofit role.
  • Understanding of current issues, trends, and challenges in sustainable/circular fashion.
  • Experience in curriculum development and/or direct teaching at the tertiary level.
  • Managerial experience; NGO experience is a plus.
  • Established contacts in the fashion, textile industry, and education institutions are advantageous.
  • Undergraduate degree (B.A. or equivalent) in fashion or sustainability-related subjects preferred.

Required Skills & Desired Profile

  • Eligible to live and work in Hong Kong (candidates without a Hong Kong visa will only be considered in exceptional circumstances).
  • Fluent in English with polished writing skills; knowledge of Cantonese and/or Mandarin is a plus.
  • Passionate about creating positive change through education and sustainability in fashion.
  • Strong team player with excellent multitasking abilities.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including public speaking experience.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential.
