The job market can be tough. According to a recent survey by StandOut CV, only 2% of applicants make it to the interview stage, making competition fierce.
In such a competitive landscape, having a personal connection can be the difference between landing an interview—or even the job itself—and getting lost in the crowd.
The survey findings reveal that 70.2% of professionals have secured a job contact, interview, or direct job offer through someone in their network.
This shows just how powerful professional relationships can be in shaping career success.
Among those who leveraged their network to advance their careers, 29.7% reported landing two jobs through personal connections. On the other end of the spectrum, only 1.6% said they had never successfully turned a referral into a job opportunity.
These numbers underscore a crucial truth: who you know matters. Building and maintaining strong professional relationships could be your greatest asset in today’s job market.
