JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE Under the direct supervision of the Cluster Director of Marketing & Communications, the Cluster Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible mainly for Aman Tokyo and Amanemu, but also for Janu Tokyo. This role involves building appropriate brand images through both Japanese and overseas media, social media (SNS) including influencer marketing, and marketing tools and opportunities to enhance the revenue and reputation of the hotels. The manager will assist the Cluster Director of Marketing & Communications in developing the marketing plan and promotional calendar and activities, conduct proactive communications and actions within the MarCom team, and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure all promotional activities are supervised by the MarCom executive (or Assistant Manager).

RESPONSIBILITIES

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done. Aman employees always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their colleagues. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:

PR

  • Communicate with on and offline media in Japan about both Aman Tokyo and Amanemu as well as recent news and activities at the F&B outlets (restaurant, café, lounge) and the spa at the properties.
  • Produce comprehensive press releases on the properties’ activities; dispatch them to the media at effective timings and follow up to secure positive media coverage.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with different departments to produce press materials and coordinate photo/film shoots.
  • Closely monitor media exposure in Japan and overseas to ensure the appropriate brand images.
  • Build and maintain relations with media.
  • Respond to all media inquiries in accordance with brand guidelines.
  • Correspond with the media, provide press materials, and revise documents to ensure all collected information is published.
  • Understand which topics would resonate most with different categories of media to achieve effective coverage.
  • Organise photo/film shoots on the premises for quality exposure while ensuring not to disturb guests’ activities.
  • Prepare Q&A for interviews with executives, chefs, and GMs.
  • Coordinate media stays for international media, providing hotel tours and press materials, and coordinating photoshoots and interviews upon request.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Office and international PR agencies.
  • Work with a local PR agency to organise press events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with appropriate KOLs and create their exposure on SNS proactively to increase engagement, including the Ambassador Program.
  • Communicate and report to the Corporate PR office for KOL posts and results.
  • Develop and execute strategies that will increase awareness and positive perception of Aman Tokyo and Amanemu.
  • Maintain professional relationships with media, influencers, and KOLs.

SNS

  • Plan and develop organic SNS posts (grid and stories) for both Aman Tokyo and Amanemu.
  • Communicate and report to the Corporate Social Media Manager.
  • Create, develop, or collect appropriate images and videos for SNS.
  • Develop photographers for collaboration.
  • Increase engagement and the number of followers to reach the target assigned by the Corporate Office.
  • Patrol SNS (Instagram and Facebook) posts for Aman Tokyo and Amanemu, repost positive posts, and take action for negative ones.

Marketing

  • Attend Marketing meetings with the Corporate Marketing team if required.
  • Take initiative for integrated marketing with all marketing tools.
  • Attend planning for marketing and promotional activity for Aman Tokyo and Amanemu.
  • Review and optimise all brand and marketing tools.
  • Assist the Cluster Director of Marketing & Communications/supervise Executive/Coordinator in producing marketing/promotional materials for the brand.
  • Manage various projects pertaining to PR and Marketing of Aman Tokyo and Amanemu.

General

  • Create PowerPoint presentations for monthly meetings.
  • Translate various letters and documents from English to Japanese and vice versa.
  • Assist the Cluster Director of Marketing & Communications and deputise if necessary.

ESSENTIALS

Languages

  • Verbal and written proficiency in English and Japanese.

Qualifications/Training

  • Degree/Diploma in any discipline.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 2 years as Communications in an international luxury hotel or luxury brand.

Others

  • Computer knowledge, ability to work long hours.
