Director of Beauty Product Development and Pricing Strategy (Consultant)

Role Aman Essentials is seeking an experienced Beauty Product Development and Pricing Strategy Director (Consultant) to lead the full lifecycle of beauty product development across skincare, cosmetics, personal care, bath & body, and fragrance. You will define and implement effective pricing strategies, ensuring each product is technically robust, commercially viable, and competitively positioned for value, margin, and market relevance. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping the product portfolio and driving overall brand and business performance.
Responsibilities
- Generate product ideas and concepts informed by market trends, consumer insights, and brand strategy.
- Lead formulation development by partnering with Retail and Design teams, external labs, and suppliers to test and finalise product specifications.
- Define packaging and design requirements, source materials, and ensure all packaging meets brand, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Manage the full end-to-end product development lifecycle from concept and testing through to production and launch.
- Conduct market, competitor, and consumer research to guide product positioning and pricing decisions.
- Analyse cost of goods sold (COGs), margins, and profitability to recommend competitive and commercially sound retail pricing.
- Develop and implement pricing strategies, including value-based, competitive, launch, and regional pricing approaches.
- Monitor post-launch performance and optimise pricing, packaging, marketing, or positioning based on sales results and consumer feedback.
- Oversee and optimise the product portfolio by evaluating current stock keeping unit (SKUs), identifying gaps, and planning future innovations.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration, managing timelines, budgets, sample cycles, and reporting performance insights to senior management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in science, business, or a related field.
- Experience in beauty/cosmetics/personal care/skincare/fragrance product development, ideally across the full lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of beauty industry trends, consumer behaviour, and relevant regulatory/safety requirements.
- Solid commercial skills, including COGs (cost of goods sold) calculation, margin analysis, pricing strategy, and market/competitor analysis.
- Strong project management capability, handling multiple projects, timelines, budgets, and stakeholders.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with marketing, sales, supply chain, and external suppliers/manufacturers.
- Analytical and data-driven, able to interpret sales performance, consumer feedback, and margin impact.
- Creative mindset with strong product sensibility across formulation, packaging, positioning, and user experience.
- Experience with global markets, retail accounts, packaging supply chains, or regulatory compliance is advantageous.
- Flexibility to travel frequently up to 50% to suppliers, labs, manufacturing sites, and key markets.
