About the Role We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Merchandise Planner to join our team and drive sales performance through strategic product curation and forecasting. The Merchandise Planner will oversee all product planning and forecasting to optimize inventory levels, maximize sales, and enhance profitability. This role demands an analytical approach, tracking sales performance, product stock levels, and production schedules to create an effective product assortment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the CFO to build detailed merchandise plans aligned with budgets (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual).
  • Create seasonal open-to-buy (OTB) plans and manage buying budgets to ensure profitability and product cohesion.
  • Curate seasonal buys in line with the OTB, ensuring alignment with brand vision and customer demand.
  • Analyze historical sales data, customer insights, and market trends to inform buying decisions.
  • Plan and implement inventory strategies to maintain ideal stock levels and prevent overstock and stockouts.
  • Oversee weekly store allocations and replenishments.
  • Develop merchandise plans that support key sales periods and markdown strategies.
  • Monitor gross profit, first margin, and banked revenue to ensure alignment with profitability targets.
  • Present regular trade reports and business insights to senior leadership, including sell-through performance and forecast updates.
  • Conduct post-seasonal analysis to inform future buying strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing, e-commerce, wholesale, and retail teams to ensure a consistent product narrative.
  • Coordinate with production and logistics teams for timely delivery and stock availability.
  • Manage relationships with third-party brands.
  • Ensure data integrity across all systems and platforms.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, finance, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Style Arcade and Cin7 is highly regarded.
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen with excellent attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Understanding of the Lee Mathews brand, aesthetic, and customer demographic.
  • Highly motivated and driven.
