Curatorial Assistant | M+ Museum — Hong Kong SAR, China

M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Summary of the Role Reporting to Curator, Moving Image, the Assistant Curator will support the curatorial team in all exhibitions, screenings, commissions, and event related museum business, and curatorial affairs with a focus on moving image.

You should be responsible for

assisting in creating and maintaining records of objects in the museum collection;
supporting and making acquisitions for the museum collection;
independently researching given topics related to moving image and communicating findings to the curatorial team;
assisting in writing, editing, and producing museum texts, including publications, wall texts, object labels, webpages, and promotional materials;
working with all curatorial teams including visual art, design and architecture, digital programmes, learning and interpretation, and editorial, in the above capacities when required;
contributing to the general development of the future M+, including different stages of the building, museum operations, and programmes; and
performing any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by M+.

You should

possess a recognised university degree or equivalent in Film Studies, Creative Media Studies, Art History, Fine Arts or other related disciplines;
have 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience in art and cultural organisations; preferably have experience and a strong interest in moving-image art and culture;
be able to work independently and cooperatively with others in a fast-paced environment;
be highly-organised and detail-oriented; and
have excellent written and verbal communication skills in Chinese and English.
