M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Located in Hong Kong’s WestK, we are one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. The museum reflects our unique time and place, building on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and the international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century.
(This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.)
You will be responsible for • working with the M+ curatorial team to produce and edit written material and multimedia content; • editing and proofreading all texts related to exhibitions, public programmes, learning programmes, and web content generated by M+; • editing content for M+ print publications and contributing to the editorial direction of these books; • working closely with internal M+ parties as well as with WKCDA departments, such as Marketing and Customer Experience, Communication and Public Affairs to ensure consistency in content and language of all published materials; and • liaising with external parties including, but not limited to, designers, translators, and copy-editors. You should • possess a recognised university degree relevant in English, Chinese, Journalism, Art History, Visual Culture Studies, or other related disciplines; • have around 5 years of experience as an editor at a museum, or equivalent field such as journalism and publication related to art, design or visual culture; • have solid experience in collaborating with stakeholders in producing published materials related to exhibitions, public programmes, or learning programmes; • have in-depth experience and knowledge of managing editorial processes and workflows; • demonstrate experience with editorial work in the fields of visual culture, such as art, design, architecture, and cinema; • possess proven experience in developing and implementing editorial policies and guidelines; and • have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and preferably in Chinese.
