(This is a fixed-term contract position of 1-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance)

You will be responsible for

  • working with learning and Interpretation team and assist in research and content development and implementation of museum learning programmes for visitors of diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to kindergarten, primary and secondary school students, teachers, university groups, families, people with disabilities, patrons, and the general public;
  • leading the delivery of museum learning programmes in various engagement modes, such as tour, workshop, drop-in event, orientation talk, and pop-up chat at M+ galleries and other learning spaces based on the programme plan;
  • assisting in the programme evaluation to ensure deliverables are aligned with expected learning objectives and outcomes;
  • assisting in visitor research to identify interests and needs of audiences;
  • assisting in developing and preparing training materials;
  • participating in programme content and facilitation trainings and trial sessions;
  • assisting in supervising the members of the educator team to ensure a quality performance;
  • maintaining learning programme materials in various museum spaces and ensure that programme venues are up to museum standard
  • maintaining a comprehensive understanding of M+’s values and collections, current exhibitions, and upcoming educational events to enrich the visitor experience;
  • following institutional uniform, health and safety guidelines; and
  • performing any additional tasks when required.

You should

  • possess a recognised university degree in Arts Education, Curriculum and Pedagogy, Early Childhood Education, Museum Studies, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Language and Communication, Journalism, Hospitality, Public Relations, or a related field;
  • demonstrate strong interest in arts education and working at the contemporary museum;
  • have teaching diploma or 2–3 years of relevant experience of being an instructor, docent, or facilitator at arts and cultural organisations, colleges, or universities;
  • fluent in Cantonese and English; proficiency in Mandarin is advantageous; knowledge of other languages is a plus;
  • proficient in written Chinese and English;
  • be able to work on weekends and holidays;
  • be able to work independently with strong on-the-spot problem-solving skills; and
  • be highly-organised and patient with strong communication skills, and a willingness to collaborate with others.
