(This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.)

You will be responsible for

  • Reporting to the CHANEL Lead Curator, Moving Image and managing the Project Coordinator in the team.
  • Managing the development and execution of the annual Asian Avant-Garde Film Festival and associated Avant-Garde Now events; 3-4 M+ Facade commissions per year; and other ad-hoc high-profile moving image events, in alignment with museum policies, project goals, and industry best practices.
  • Managing schedules, resources, contracts, and budgets, ensuring projects are delivered successfully, on time, and to budget.
  • Regularly reviewing and updating project plans, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Serving as the liaison between M+ and external stakeholders, including artists, filmmakers, partners, sponsors, and vendors.
  • Serving as liaison between the curators-in-charge and all internal stakeholders, including the Development, Operations, Collections, Marketing, Communications, Digital, and Events teams.
  • Scheduling and managing project meetings, both internally and externally.
  • Establishing and refining workflows and allocating resources and expertise throughout the projects’ lifecycles.
  • Managing the master schedule of the moving image team’s curatorial projects.
  • Overseeing the reporting, documentation, and wrap-up of projects.
  • Supporting international screening programmes, as required.

Qualifications

  • Possess a recognised university degree in Project Management, Arts Administration, Business Administration, Cultural Management, Event Management, or equivalent.
  • Have 7 years’ experience of leading high-profile projects and events.
  • Have strong project management and budget management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects within an ever-changing environment.
  • Be able to establish and refine workflows, solve problems, and prioritise needs in a variety of situations where immediate decisions are necessary.
  • Have excellent negotiation skills and be able to work independently and in teams.
  • Have strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage project teams and coordinate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Possess meticulous attention to detail.
  • Be a creative self-motivator who aims to drive things forward both in strategy and execution.
  • Have demonstrable experience in mid to large-sized institutions and familiarity with organisational procedures.
  • Be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); knowledge of Microsoft Project, Asana, or equivalent project-management software would be preferred.
  • Have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English and Chinese.
  • Experience in the film, arts, or cultural sector is desired, but not essential.
