Position Overview Lead Teaching Artists work closely with managers in the education department to develop and lead gallery experiences for K-12 school groups, families, pre-K students, teens and multi-generational audiences. The Lead Teaching Artist connects museum audiences to the artistic processes and conceptual underpinnings of the work on view at PAMM. Candidates must adapt their schedule to the program needs of the department.

In addition to implementing education programs, the Lead Teaching Artist is responsible for training other Teaching Artists staff by organizing and leading professional development, and helping new staff with PAMM policies and procedures. In consultation with supervisors, this position will administer a peer review process to help maintain visitor-centered gallery teaching and art experiences across program areas.

Requirements Qualifications

  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, up to 40 hours per week
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills. Minimum of 1 year of prior teaching or facilitation experience. Demonstrated flexibility and creative problem-solving
  • Passion for working with youth and community audiences Proven track record of reliability and punctuality Ability to work collaborative within a team-oriented environment
  • Must obtain Fingerprint clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.

Physical Demands

  • Walk, bend, lift (up to 15 pounds) files, office supplies, and electronic equipment.
  • Finger dexterity to pick up paper and use computer keyboard.
  • Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
  • Ability to hear in normal tones including telephone and face-to-face conversation.

Summary

Essential Functions included, but are not limited to:

  • Promote all PAMM education programs to diverse audiences
  • Develop and facilitate dynamic gallery experiences to multigenerational visitors
  • Lead training and onboarding for new Teaching Artists, including ongoing professional development sessions. Administer peer review process to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Connect museum audience with artistic processes and concepts
  • Collaborate with the Education team to support and advance the museum’s mission. Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the Education Department.

Summary

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate calendar management, professional association memberships, event attendance, and expense reporting for the Senior Director of Development;
  • Interact with board members, donors and the public on the phone, via email, at meetings, and in correspondence;
  • Work with multiple calendars to schedule meetings and create donor kits as needed;
  • Work with the Senior Director of Development and Director of Major Gifts on annual Board giving statements and invoices;
  • Maintain moves management and donor touchpoint documentation for Senior Director of Development;
  • Input contact notes and donor interactions into Altru;
  • Develop and/or coordinate with appropriate PAMM staff to create and distribute reports, briefings, presentations, and responses on development issues as appropriate;
  • Support the Senior Director of Development and Associate, Executive Operations in stewardship of the Board of Trustees;
  • Provide skilled support to the Senior Director of Development on implementation of special program initiatives;
  • Assist Senior Director of Development in preparing meeting materials, and producing meeting minutes as necessary;
  • Support the execution of all events led by the development department, including the annual Gala and other major fundraising events;
  • Serve as onsite registration personnel for donor and museum-wide events.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
