We are looking for an advanced, experienced production sewer to join our team for a part-time, 6-month contract, with the potential to extend. As a member of our Product team, your primary responsibility will be to handle sample making and finishing of customer products using our revolutionary circular-woven textiles. We're looking for someone with experience in industrial apparel production, patterns, and someone excited about the challenges and rewards of joining a startup.

About us unspun is a fashion tech BCorp that has invented 3D weaving for apparel. Our goal is to eliminate waste in the fashion industry, enable on-demand production, and reduce global emissions by 1% using their novel technology. .

About you You enjoy producing beautiful, top quality garments, working in a fast-paced and early-stage R&D environment. You thrive as part of a team, and are extremely detailed oriented and focused. Your work is top quality and are a great communicator.

What you’ll do

  • Sewing and Construction:
  • Operate industrial sewing machines and other equipment with a high degree of proficiency to sew garments according to provided patterns and instructions.
  • Ensure impeccable stitching, precise seam allowances, and flawless finishing details that meet or exceed the most stringent quality standards.
  • Sew various fabric types of fabrics (including but not limited to denim, looser weave wovens, among other materials), while demonstrating mastery of techniques for each material.
  • Execute quality checks on completed garments and after each step. Utilize your seasoned eye for detail to identify and promptly rectify any stitching or construction imperfections.
  • Cutting and Material Management:
  • Display expert-level precision in cutting and preparing fabric and materials for sewing, adhering to provided patterns and guidelines.
  • Exhibit resourcefulness in monitoring and addressing any material shortages or anomalies, ensuring the seamless flow of the production process.

Please note: a portfolio or comprehensive collection of past sewing work is expected to be provided during the application process. There will also be an on-site sewing proficiency test.

Benefits We are flexible on hourly commitment, targeting 3 days a week with 6-8 hours a day. This is a 1099 contract position for a proposed length of 6 months, with the possibility of it converting to a full time role. The pay range is $30-40/hour, based on skill level.
