Merchandiser
The Merchandiser is responsible for managing product performance from bulk buy through to end of life across Deiji Studios and Juem. This role brings together merchandise buying, planning, and analysis, ensuring optimal stock levels, strong sell-through, and target margins are achieved across e-commerce, retail, and wholesale channels.
Working closely with the Design, Production, Digital, Marketing, Wholesale, and Retail teams, you will ensure merchandising decisions align with the broader brand, creative vision, and trading strategy. A strong commercial mindset, ownership mentality, and proactive, solutions-focused approach are key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandise Planning & Stock Management
- Track and manage purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery, following up with suppliers as required
- Report on and review stock levels, including high stock, low stock, and out-of-stock positions
- Place bulk orders and action reorders, considering optimal weeks cover, seasonality, and product appropriateness
- Ensure bulk orders are placed on time in line with critical path timelines and launch dates
- Manage markdowns and oversee end-of-life strategies for products across both brands
- Review sell-through performance across e-commerce, retail stores, and wholesale partners, identifying opportunities to optimise stock flow and sales
Reporting, Analysis & Returns
- Report on top sellers, underperforming styles, and slow-moving stock, providing clear, actionable insights
- Analyse broad sets of data to draw meaningful commercial insights that inform buying, planning, and trading decisions
- Own returns reporting and analysis, identifying trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement
- Partner with the Design and Digital teams to ensure learnings from returns and performance are fed back into product development and online trading decisions
- Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to support the Digital, Marketing, and broader business teams as required
Digital & Product Optimisation
- Work closely with the E-commerce and Design teams to ensure product descriptions, categorisation, and online content are accurate, commercially considered, and aligned with product intent
- Review product performance online and collaborate with Digital and Marketing to optimise product sell-through, stock efficiency, and overall trading performance
Pricing & Margin Management
- Establish pricing for new collections, ensuring target margins are achieved
- Lead FOB cost negotiations with suppliers to meet margin targets
- Negotiate ongoing costs and efficiencies across bulk orders and reorders
- Ensure online pricing across all GEOs is accurate and aligned with brand strategy
Wholesale & Retail Collaboration
- Partner with wholesale accounts on stock requests, allocations, and ongoing stock management
- Collaborate with store teams to manage store stock, including approving and coordinating branch transfers
- Support the Design team with line sheets, range builds, and visual merchandising tools
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and inform commercial decisions
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large data sets
- Proficiency in retail management systems and inventory optimisation tools
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to apply commercial thinking to buying, pricing, and stock management decisions
Preferred
- Experience working across e-commerce, wholesale, and retail channels
- Familiarity with digital merchandising strategies and online trading metrics
